Operating OE0HQ on 15m in SSB

The station of the radio amateur club of the TU Wien participated in this year’s IARU-HF World Championship as Austrian Headquarter station OE0HQ on 15m in SSB. We are grateful to Michael OE1MCU for sharing his fully automatic transistor PA so we can operate near the legal limit. The Austrian Headquarter station is actually a networked group of HF stations which is distributed all over Austria. Overall OE0HQ logged some 11k QSOs in the contest. Some pics below.

Hunt for OE0HQ

In the course of the annual IARU HF Championship, the OVSV organizes a hunt for the Headquarter Station (HQ) with the callsign OE0HQ for all radio amateurs with Austrian callsign. The challenge is to contact OE0HQ on as many bands as possible from 160m – 10m (excluding the WARC bands), both in CW and SSB. A maximum of 12 connections are possible.

To participate in this contest it is sufficient to make connections with the HQ station. No log needs to be evaluated and sent in, the winners will be determined from the log of the HQ station.
If more than one station manages the difficult task to trace OE0HQ on all bands in CW and SSB, the winner will be the one who first has all 12 connections in his log.

The contest starts on Saturday, 08 July 2023 at 12.00 UTC/14.00 CEST and ends on Sunday, 09 July 2023 at 12.00 UTC/14.00 CEST.

OE0HQ will be QRV with many well equipped stations spread all over Austria to give everyone the opportunity to connect even on the more difficult bands.
For reasons of sportsmanship, I ask that other stations also be given a point in this contest, since a single connection with OE0HQ might otherwise not be counted as a so-called „unique“. Furthermore, only one callsign should be used to call the HQ station from one location.

We hope for active participation and are particularly pleased about each calling OE station.

If you are interested in supporting OE0HQ as operator:in or support, please feel free to contact me. In addition to SSB and CW operators, we also welcome people to join the team to assist with antenna and IT preparations at the various stations.
